I wanted to become a business analyst but has little to no experience in the field after my Master’s Programme. I reached out to Surelink Consulting Limited for mentorship through a friend who spoke highly of them and recommended them to me. Upon joining Surelink I was assigned to a Lead BA who has vast experience in business analysis, to guide me through the process of acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge.

He started giving me an overview of what a business analyst does and the types of industries they work in. Then he worked with me to identify my transferrable skills, strengths and weaknesses, and help me create a plan for developing the skills needed.

Over time, I was provided some specific projects to work on, such as SDLC and Change management project. On these projects I worked as a BA where I carried out elicitation of requirements through stakeholder engagement, I created user stories decomposed them into Acceptance criteria and also collaborated with the development team. This gave me hands-on experience and the mentorship provided feedback and guidance throughout the process, helping me learn from my mistakes and refine my approach.

As I gained experience and confidence, I started applying for business analyst role openings and I was able to secure an offer as a business analyst in a Multinational IT Company in the United Kingdom.
